Alternative to Gore GS2100 Obsolescence: EC2120-HB Conductive Fluoro-Silicone

EC2120-HB is a soft Ni/C Electrically Conductive Fluoro-Silicone developed as an alternative to Gore GS 2100 material.

Since GORE GS 2100 material is obsolete, we researched and developed a 45 Shore A Ni/C conductive fluoro-silicone. With similar specifications as Gore GS 2100 Material.

Our goal is to bring a tested and viable conductive fluoro-silicone material, especially for critical application as aerospace or military application.

Due to its low out-gassing characteristics and excellent reliability through Accelerated Life Testing (ALT): EC2120-HB conductive fluoro-silicone material is a key player as a solution to GS2100 obsolescence.

Here are the main features of the EC 2120-HB conductive silicone material compared to GS 2100 material:

Substrate, conductive particles and composition of the conductive material :

GS 2100 and EC2120-HB are both manufactured from Fluoro-Silicone material loaded with conductive particles Ni/C.

The final product consists of a carbon-filled cellular PTFE (fluoro-silicone) matrix, a conductive pressure sensitive adhesive, and a PET carrier film (see below).

EC2120-HB conductive fluoro-silicone material can be processed by extrusion molding, precision die-cutting, and insert molding with metal parts.

Fire Safety Rating (UL-94), about this flame-retardant material:

Both GS 2100 and EC2120-HB are UL94-V0 certified. This level a fire safety rating is the higher possible for such conductive material.

Hardness and Mechanical properties:

EC2120-HB conductive fluoro-silicone is especially developed to reach the same hardness as Gore GS2100 : 45 Shore A.

Standard hardness for conductive silicone is often closer to 65 Shore A.

EC2120-HB conductive fluoro-silicone has a tensile strenght of 300psi (ASTM D412) and an elongation rate of 200% (ASTM D412).

Shielding effectiveness and Volume resistivity:

EC2120-HB conductive fluoro-silicone offers a high EMI shielding performance >80dB from 500MHz to 18GHz (corresponding to "E" field and MIL-G-83528 standard).

Following MIL-DTL-83528C test method, EC2120-HB conductive silicone has a volume resitivity of 1.0 Ω·cm comparing to <1.5 Ω·cm for GS2100 material.

Operating temperature:

EC2120-HB conductive fluoro-silicone Is recommended for a operation temperature between -55°C to 170°C. Gore GS2100 material is certified for -40°C to +95°C (with adhesive).

Other characteristics:

As all COMPELMA's material, EC2120-HB conductive fluoro-silicone material is Reach and RoHS certified. Certificates are provided on demand.

We are also used to provide all required documentation for projects with high standards as FAI document and Certificate of Conformity.

As military and aerospace projects represent a main share of our activities, we know your specificities and constraints.
